As SVP Digital and based at head office in the Netherlands and reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive for 6 years Marcus led Ahold Delhaize’s efforts in ecommerce, loyalty and digital transformation SVP Digital at Ahold Delhaize across the entire US$80bn businesses in Europe and the Eastern seaboard of the United States.
Following his tenure at Ahold Delhaize, Marcus transitioned to Dairy Farm (now DFI Retail Group), one of the largest retailers in Asia, where he served on the Board as Chief Digital Officer and Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he oversaw the digital transformation of all retail systems that support DFI’s 10,000 stores in 11 Asian markets resulting in an end-to-end digitization of retail operations and which drove efficiencies across the entire value chain and optimized costs at store and DC level while dramatically improving the customer experience.
One of his notable achievements was the successful implementation of the Yuu coalition loyalty program, which captured 5 million users in a city with an adult population of just over 6 million as it brought together DFI’s supermarkets, health & beauty stores, 7-11 and Ikea franchises together under one program.
Marcus also led the formation and successful execution of the joint venture with DMALL before moving over to lead DMALL’s international business at the end of last year.
Marcus lives in Hong Kong and is married with three teenage children.
