Gary Mortimer is a Professor of Retail Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at the QUT Business School. Before entering academia, he spent more than 25 years working with some of Australia’s largest retailers. He has published over 70 peer reviewed international journal articles and more than 150 industry insights. Professor Mortimer’s research focuses on smart retail technology and customer aggression in service environments, working closely with industry partners to develop practical solutions. He is currently Chair and Independent Director of Services and Creative Skills Australia, the federally funded Jobs and Skills Council. Widely recognised as Australia’s leading retail expert, he is a frequent industry keynote speaker and media commentator, engaging extensively with television, radio, print, and online media.
