Poh Chi Chuan


Executive Director – Exhibitions & Conferences

Mr Poh Chi Chuan is the Executive Director of the Exhibitions & Conferences Division, where he oversees the healthy development of the exhibitions and conferences events in Singapore to support the needs of Singapore’s key industry clusters. Since Chi Chuan took over the role in 2021, his key priority was to drive the recovery of the business events sector through partnership with the industry.


Prior to this role, he was the Acting Chief Technology Officer of the Singapore Tourism Board. In this capacity, he was responsible for spearheading and implementing transformation initiatives within the Board and for the tourism sector, providing counsel and direction in all technology and data related issues, as well as creating a culture of agility and innovation within the Board.

Chi Chuan joined STB in 2004 as a Manager in the International Group before moving to Market Access where he headed STB’s Western China office. From 2007 – 2009, he was the Assistant Director managing the China/North Asia markets. In 2010 he became Deputy Director of the Tourism Concept Development team and was promoted to Director in 2012. In 2015, he took on the responsibility of Director, Tourism Concept Development which involved overseeing the cultural precinct developments in Chinatown and Little India. He also championed masterplans of new tourism zones and developed innovative tourism initiatives. These included leading the conceptualisation of the Mandai nature-themed project.

In 2017, he became Director, Digital Transformation and strengthened enterprise digital and data science capabilities for STB and key industry partners. This included gathering, analysing data and trends, and getting new insights on tourism performance, sharing market intelligence and consumer insights, as well as engaging stakeholders on digital collaborations. He also oversaw the driving of innovation initiatives to co-create quality solutions for the industry with the private sector, to push the technology boundaries and future proofing the tourism sector to tackle the challenges up ahead.

Chi Chuan was a recipient of the National Day Awards Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2016.

Chi Chuan graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) in 1999. He then obtained his Masters in Public Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in 2017, where he also received the Dean’s Leadership Award (Gold).
